Fluidity
For me, class feels "good" to me when I see my students experience the joy of connecting to themselves and others. I love to see my classes filled with people that don't look the same; varied genders, bodies, races, dance experience, ages and abilities.
I want to see students, especially adult ones make choices for themselves: adjust the exercise, go to the bathroom when you need to, sit out and observe, ask me to slow down, do your PT exercises on the side, eat a snack if you need, take a call from your partner, or even leave class early. . .
I want my students to leave class a little more grounded, a little challenged, a little more nourished, and a little less lonely.
I don't care if my students can kick their face with their leg or memorize choreography instantaneously.
Ultimately, I just want my students to learn
to listen to their bodies.
